We're in the process of applying for Continuing Healthcare.
It's known as the best kept secret in the NHS. So many loops to jump through and we have a specialist solicitor to guide us through the process. Has anyone else experience of this and what outcomes did you have? Be persistent & keep a record of everything. Nursing records, NHS records, notes from any incidents- eg: falls, hitting a carer etc. If you're turned down, you don't have to accept that. Some are getting retrospective payments. To qualify for Continuing Healthcare you need 'the highest level of care' eg: can't feed self, double incontinent etc. Further info on this topic will follow on our Podcast. In the meantime, listen here to Radio 4s 'You & Yours' 'Paying for Care'.
