What is The Dementia Experience?
The Dementia Experience team is dedicated to delivering joyful events that generate connection for those who have family members living with dementia. We're based in Kent and are expanding to new areas. Dementia can be an incredibly isolating and emotionally draining experience. We are here for you as a free, local support network. Rather than focusing on loss, the organisation emphasises living in the present with fun, joy and meaningful connection. Everyone's situation is unique, with its own set of challenges. We firmly believe that by coming together and sharing knowledge in a positive community, the dementia experience can be a joyful one. |

We Believe In Nuggets of Joy |
Clara Hebblethwaite founded The Dementia Experience after caring for her mother with vascular dementia. It inspired her to change how society views the condition. The Dementia Experience is rooted in lived experience. It aims to challenge negative perceptions of dementia. We are dedicated to finding joy, reducing distress, and show that a high quality of life is still possible after a dementia diagnosis. |

"Seeing the joy on everybody's faces really set me off. Seeing the life and spark in their eyes was just magical."

"I think the dementia journey pushes us all to think about difficult things in new ways - life and death, and what it is to be human, what it is to communicate, what it is to connect, what it is to love somebody. That is the experience. It is a real journey that people go on. The way you're approaching it at The Dementia Experience - supporting one another as we try to find a way through what dementia is and remain connected to the people that we love. It's really important."
Sarah Metcalfe | whilst Managing Director of The Utley Foundation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ |
"It's so special to see a smile on his face; joining in something that he so enjoyed in the past. It's so lovely for him. And everybody here is so friendly, lovely and welcoming. It's gorgeous."
