What is The Dementia Experience?
The Dementia Experience is dedicated to delivering joyful events that generate connection for those who have family members living with dementia. We're based in Kent and are expanding to new areas. Dementia can be an incredibly isolating and emotionally draining experience. We are here for you as a free, local support network. Rather than focusing on loss, the organisation emphasises living in the present with fun, joy and meaningful connection. Everyone's situation is unique, with its own set of challenges. We firmly believe that by coming together and sharing knowledge in a positive community, the dementia experience can be a joyful one. |
What we do
The Dementia Experience organise regular clubs & events to support people with a family member experiencing dementia.
Free support for families experiencing dementia Our regular clubs, coffee mornings & resources are free to anyone who needs them. See all events here. Please continue to donate in order for us to keep delivering nuggets of joy. Why we do it
Clara Hebblethwaite founded The Dementia Experience after caring for her mother with vascular dementia, inspiring her to change how society views the condition. Rooted in lived experience, The Dementia Experience aims to challenge negative perceptions of dementia, reduce distress, and show that joy, connection, and quality of life are still possible — one positive moment at a time. |

Reviews
"I think the dementia journey pushes us all to think about difficult things in new ways - life and death, and what it is to be human, what it is to communicate, what it is to connect, what it is to love somebody. That is the experience. It is a real journey that people go on. The way you're approaching it at The Dementia Experience - supporting one another as we try to find a way through what dementia is and remain connected to the people that we love. It's really important."
